🌐 Say Hello to Bella — The Loudest Living Cat
A cat named Bella from Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, in the United Kingdom (UK) has recently set a new Guinness World Record for the loudest purr by a living domestic cat. Her purr was measured at an incredible 54.59 decibels. Imagine the sounds of a boiling tea kettle or a washing machine. Yeah. Her purrs are basically the same level of volume! Bella's owner, Nicole Spink, said that she likes to be loud when watching television.
Fun fact: Bella's purr is not the loudest ever recorded. In fact, two other cats in the UK named Smokey and Merlin are tied for the record at 67.8 decibels, which was recorded in April 2015.
Congratulations, Bella (Spink), for winning the Guinness World Record for the loudest purr! Check out the video of her here.
💩 I Am Tofu
Are you familiar with tofu litter? Is it really made out of tofu? You might have heard of it, but have you actually tried it? The litter is made from raw material input to tofu known as soy fiber and also includes other ingredients like water-absorbing plant fibers like pea and soybean fiber, making it a plus among us cat servants (you can flush it down the toilet!) Will I receive a tip from da cat dis time? 💵
I wasn’t aware this was even a thing until I stumbled upon it at one cat-sitting house in Cambridge. I remember the cat, her name was Moo-Moo. I watched her use the green tea-flavored tofu litter. After she finished doing her business, I was pleasantly surprised by the fact that there was no lingering smell when she strutted out of the bathroom. It was reminiscent of candy or cake, and I thought to myself, "This is something new!" I looked into the exact brand by I Am Tofu. Come to find out, tofu-based cat litter is a popular trend, with many options available at varying price points. The trend began booming in the Chinese markets and has slowly trickled its way to the U.S. Some feedback to share:
The Benefits of Tofu Litter:
Natural smells, odor-free
Safe for kittens, cats, and humans (ex: cat consumption)
No more mess and dust, fast clumping
Better for the environment
More gentle on their paws
Can flush down the toilet 🚽
The Struggles of Tofu Litter:
Pricey compared to non-tofu-based litter
Clumps may stick to the litter box
Clumps may be fragile and break apart easily
Cats may eat it (Yuck! Why do they do that?)
I introduced I Am Tofu to Leo and Sasha a few weeks ago, and they adjusted well. And thankfully, our work office is less stinky than before! To try or not to try with your kitty, that is the question. Can someone tell the Emoji gods to make one for tofu, btw?
🇺🇸 Lincoln’s Cats Dixie and Tabby
After Abraham Lincoln was elected President of the United States in August 1861, William Seward, the Secretary of State, gifted Lincoln with two kittens. He developed a very deep attachment to his cats, naming them Dixie and Tabby (see the photos below). Lincoln even allowed them to wine and dine with him and important guests at the dinner table in the White House! His wife and First Lady, Mary Todd Lincoln, was not too fond of this practice.
Lincoln was known as a gentle and sensitive man. Lincoln's law partner, William Herndon, stated that he was unusually considerate of others, regardless of their rank, condition, or station.
Lincoln was even more considerate of children and animals. He went on to adopt a dog named Fido, two goats named Nanny and Nanko, and a horse named Old Robin.
These photographs are giving old and vintage. ✨🎞️

🐈 Meet Sasha (other nicknames include Sashi, Sash, and Sashimi)
Mao Mao’s Cat of the Week is my furry daughter, Sasha. She was adopted from the MSPCA in Jamaica Plain and loves chicken, tuna, and growling at her new brother Leo. Sasha started her life with a group of boys at Brandeis University and was always the center of attention, surrounded by many people.
A bit about Sasha:
Born on 7/21/17
Loves carbs — we also call her Ms. Blue Buffalo
Makes biscuits around the same time every night on the couch
Her favorite pastime is watching da birds 🐦
Is a princess

🍀 Jayson Tatum’s #TBT (kinda)
After many shocking free-agency deals and exciting trades during the off-season (Timelord, Smart, Jrue Holiday), the Celtics are finally back! Last week, the team's social media manager shared a carousel of AI-generated #YearBookChallenge photos featuring some of their most famous players, including one of Jayson Tatum. Are you kidding me? This is SO cute! Tatum has been an outspoken and avid dog lover. I was surprised to see a cat on his shoulder. But I’m not complaining. Check out the others!
